Hello sweet, patient blog family! I've been living my hectic life for a few months and left this part of it on the back burner for a bit. I'm back though! Such a quaint, perfect little slice of this island that is all ours and wonderful.  Our porches are my favorite place in the world, no furniture, no plants, not a single thing but wood and this place gives me so much peace and sense of accomplishment.  Plants I have  new found OBSESSION with all things green and plantlike. I am starting all kinds of plants to fill our home with life and oxygen. I have several varieties of succulents, ivy, hydrangeas, a holly bush, and even an orange tree!    In this picture I', starting a few new species from dropped leaves and they are no doing great!  Island Girl Makes Vinyl Shop

Loving Lately

Image
Happy Monday friends! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, it was gorgeous here on the OBX. I've never done a "loving lately" post but I love to see what other people are loving so maybe you'll like to see mine.  1. Magnolia Table Hands down my favorite cookbook! It's so beautiful and well illustrated. Unfortunately, life has been so busy I haven't even had a chance yet to try out a new recipe. I'll keep ya'll posted though with my Magnolia Table review soon. 2. Cuisinart Knife Block Set     I had never seen white knives like theses before until I was just scrolling through amazon one day and stumbled upon them. They are beautiful and incredibly good quality, considering they're only $60! They cut so well! I get attached to my kitchen knives, they've got to be super sharp. I want to be able to cut through a piece of paper if i'm feeling it. I 10/10 recommend these knives, you can purchase them  here. 3. Mark Anthony

House Update

Image
Hey ya'll! Sorry for going missing for about a week. My husband have been keeping a 4 year old little boy to help out his parents and that's a big adjustment for us. We still currently have him and I just couldn't juggle him, blogging, work, and just everyday household chores. So, I decided to get up early and give a little house update. We are about to have a roof! We have our rafters and ceiling joists up and this weekend we (hopefully) will complete the plywood on the rood so this coming week we can get the inspection and carry on our way. All the holes for windows are not cut out yet. There are two windows on both sides for the front door, spaced symmetrically.    This picture is before the roof had even been started i believe. Maggie loves her house already tough, and i really wanted to share. Monday, April 30th, I celebrated my 23rd birthday! Nothing big, because we're trying to save money for our house. We did though, have our first dinner

Pantry Dreams

Hello Friends! Our house now has all exterior walls and all framing of interior walls! We've been so busy, I haven't had a spare minute to post about it! Since all the interior framing has been completed, i've been obsessing over my pantry! I've never lived in a home that had a real pantry so as you can imagine I am beyond pumped. I love to cook and I love the idea of having a beautiful, organized pantry. I'll be the first to admit i'm not the most organized person in the world, but i'm so inspired. Here are some of what has been inspiring my pantry dreams.        I want all the baskets and jars! It just all seems so clean and put together.        I love the idea of baskets to hold baking pans. It makes so much sense.  I'd love to have a sliding barn door in front of our pantry as well. I think it would make such a statement in the space. My fabulous handyman of a husband started putting in out ceiling joists today, so I have a fee

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Image
Happy Tuesday! If you're reading this it means you survived Monday, so you're winning! I have a wonderful chocolate chip cookie recipe that I now know by heart because I have made it so many times. My Granny used to make all kinds of cookies to give to all the children in her church for different holidays, but this has always been my favorite she made. My husband also loves them. You can customize them by adding oatmeal, nuts, maybe even dried fruits. They're wonderful with only the chocolate chips though.  Chocolate Chip Cookies 2 1/4 cup flour 3/4 cup granulated sugar 3/4 and 1 Tbsp dark brown sugar 2 sticks margarine 16 oz bag semi sweet chocolate chips 2 large eggs 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2.  Cream together margarine, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a stand mixer. 3.  Add in salt, baking soda, both eggs, and vanilla. 4.  Sift flour and add to wet mixture.

Hey ya'll! Since i'm still pretty new to this and everyone currently reading my blog don't really know me I thought i'd tell you a little about myself.  Family I am the second oldest of seven children. Yes, some are step but I claim them all. Samantha, me, Kate, Caroline, Mattie, Donovan, and Sophia. Poor Donovan is the only boy in a sea of woman. He loves when the girls get boyfriends or get married.  This is Kate, myself, and my precious niece Kinslee. It's almost impossible to get a picture that all seven of us are in but, as time goes on i'll introduce you to them all.  Work I currently work in a pharmacy. I love where I work, and the people I work with are all great. My dream job would be event planning. Weddings, Birthdays, Baby showers, work parties, holiday parties. I'm passionate for all of them. Eventually I hope to be able to make event planning my career. Love I am a happily married woman. I have been with my now h

My Home Inspiration

Hey! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday! Over the weekend we made a ton of progress on our house. It's gotten me so motivated to work on things myself. I wanted to share a few things i've found on pinterest that has inspired me. If you'd like to check out my pinterest i'd really appreciate it! I have a bit of a pinterest problem. My Kitchen I love to cook, so i believe the kitchen should be special. It'll be the heart of our home and very probably the most used room in our home. My style is pretty simple but also very classy and pretty. I love wood elements, especially old wood. I love the story they tell. I would love to have all white everything in our kitchen but, my husband doesn't agree. I knew i'd have to make sacrifices somewhere so there it is. Fortunately I have fallen in love with these cabinets! They are still light and airy, but they add a pretty color to the space.   Our Bedroom I want our bedroom to be a sanct
